• Linen

Linen has high tensile strength but is low stretch, while the fibres are compact. All this means that linen fabric wrinkles easily, which brings it to life and makes it extra attractive. The smoothness of the fibres gives the fabric a slightly shiny surface, which means that colours are reproduced beautifully. Linen has high moisture absorbency, which means it feels cool. The compact and smooth surface of the fibres means the surface of linen does not deeply absorb dust and dirt, so dust and dirty marks are usually easy to remove. This means that linen does not need to be washed at high temperatures either.

Linen fabric has a tendency to stretch, which means that our linen cushion covers will “grow” with age. As linen shrinks when washed, we therefore recommend regular washing to retain the shape of your covers.

See care instructions for the furnishing fabric you have chosen – some linen covers can be washed at 30° C but we generally recommend that you have our fabric covers professionally cleaned/dry cleaned. When washing with water, we recommend soaking (preferably overnight) before washing to avoid creases. Do not tumble dry!

    Care & laundry instructions

In the first instance, we recommend that furnishing textiles are cleaned by a professional laundry/dry cleaner. Be aware that linen fabrics expand with use and shrink when washed in water (shrinking can be a particularly crucial issue with upholstered frames). The fabric can be washed at 30° C but with certain reservations. The fabric may shrink, and there may be a risk of it coming out with fold lines showing. After washing, the fabric may feel tight when put back on a cushion but it will regain its original shape after a while.

To avoid fold lines, we recommend soaking (for at least three hours) before a wet wash in a washing machine. Wash inner cushion covers separately. Stretch the seams out after washing, iron the fabric at a low temperature if necessary and place the cover back over the stuffing while still slightly damp. Do not tumble dry or bleach!

    Care & laundry instructions

Do not chlorine bleach, do not tumble dry. Because Florian contains viscose, which is sensitive to water, we do not recommend washing in water. Instead we recommend that furnishing textiles are cleaned by a professional laundry/dry cleaner. Chenille has a napped surface and can therefore there is a tendency for pressure to leave marks where the nap has been squashed, resulting in colour variation. If this happens, use a soft brush and brush up the nap as far as you can. It is also possible to use a vacuum cleaner, but then the vacuum cleaner's brush nozzle must be used and the upholstery must be removed from the inner cushion.
